India–Thailand Business Opportunities: The New Co-Creation Model
A policy direction, not a grant scheme — and five sectors where Indian and Thai businesses are genuinely complementary.

What has changed
The India–Thailand relationship has moved from a trade-first framing toward co-creation and co-investment: building things together rather than only selling to each other. For businesses, the practical meaning is more institutional attention, more delegations and more willingness on both sides to explore joint ventures.
This is a policy direction, not an automatic grant, subsidy or investment scheme. No one gets funding because a communiqué mentions their sector. Verify anything specific with official sources.
The five priority sectors
Five areas are consistently identified as complementary.
- Food processing — Indian raw material scale meets Thai processing and export capability
- Health and wellness — Thai hospitality standards meet Indian demand and Ayurvedic expertise
- Green industry — solar, efficiency, waste and circular materials on both sides
- Gems and jewellery — deep craft traditions and established trade routes
- Hospitality — Indian outbound volume meets Thailand's operating depth
Food processing
Thai processors hold export licences, cold chain and ASEAN distribution. Indian companies bring volume, ingredients and a large domestic market. Co-manufacturing plus two-way market access is the most common structure discussed.
Health and wellness
Thailand's wellness hospitality is world-class in delivery; India's strength is traditional systems and practitioner depth. Joint programming and cross-referral are workable, but healthcare-adjacent claims and patient handling are regulated in both countries — take advice before marketing anything clinical.
Green industry
Rooftop solar, industrial efficiency, water treatment and waste-to-value all have live projects. Indian equipment costs and EPC experience combine well with Thai project pipelines, subject to permitting and offtake reality.
Gems, jewellery and hospitality
Both countries have established gem and jewellery clusters, making sourcing, design collaboration and distribution natural. In hospitality, the fastest-moving opportunity remains Indian celebrations and weddings, followed by management and distribution partnerships.
How to act on it
Treat the policy direction as a tailwind for attention, not a substitute for a business case. Identify a specific counterparty, structure a small pilot, and let performance justify scale.
