Thailand BOI guide

BOI application process

Expect activity confirmation, application, interview, approval, acceptance, incorporation steps and ongoing compliance.

Typical sequence

Timelines vary with project size and completeness of documentation. Larger projects go to higher committees and take longer.

  • Confirm the activity appears in the current promoted list
  • Prepare the project: capital, machinery, employment, market and technology
  • File the application through the BOI system
  • Attend a project interview or clarification meeting
  • Receive the approval letter and formally accept the promotion
  • Incorporate or amend the company and apply for the promotion certificate
  • Comply with reporting, capital and condition requirements thereafter

Where projects lose time

The two most common delays are an activity that does not cleanly match the list, and a project description that is not backed by numbers. Both are cheaper to fix before filing.

BOI eligibility depends on the specific activity, project and current regulations. This page provides general information and is not official BOI advice.
